Rationing begins dig for victory
On the 7th of January 1939 the Rationing commenced.The way food rationing worked was every citizen in Britain recieved a rationing book and they had to register and buy their food from their local supermarket.There weren't many supermarkets.They could only buy vegetables,bread,meat and other goods.

During the war there were less crops and so the Government commenced a campaign for children and adults to grow vegetables.So they had good supply to eat even if there was no food in the farms.Chidren did digging,planting and weeding.

Rationing ended in the year 1954. Why do you think it lasted for a few more years after the war ended? Well here is the answer. The rationing continued for another few year after the war because some factories had been blown up in the war. So they had to be rebuilt and farm were bombed too so the to sow the seeds in to the earth again, replant all the crops and mend all the tractors and machinery. When the rationing finally ended all the people started to rip up their rationing book to celebrate the victory and glory of winning the war and escaping the rationing.
